Patient FAQ - Dr. Ola - Encomium Psychology

At Encomium our mission is to excavate undiscovered resources, strengths, and reservoirs of resilience inherent in the very nature of being human.

Your thoughts, feelings, and choices are a few of the most important predictors of the kind of life you’ll have.  Therapy and change are investments and take time.

This practice is a good fit for individuals, couples, and families who are willing to make that commitment.

My name is Dr. Ola.  I am a California licensed
clinical psychologist who specializes in working with individuals, couples, and families struggling with:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Loss
  • Trauma
  • Life transitions
  • Conflict
  • Overwhelming feelings

I provide face-to-face and online counseling to adults in Mission Valley, Fashion Valley, downtown San Diego, Hillcrest, La Jolla, Linda Vista, El Cajon, North Park, Del Mar, Carlsbad, and Solana Beach, and throughout California.

Frequently Asked Questions

Got a question? We’re here to help.
  • Fees

Session fees start at $200.  Please contact me for more information about individual, couples, and family counseling.

Extended sessions can be discussed prior to initial visits. The charge for extended sessions will be based on a pro-rated rate of your full session fee.

Additional communication between sessions via text or phone call will be charged additional fees after 15 minutes.  The charge will be a prorated rate of your full session fee.

Payment by credit or debit card, cash, check, or Venmo is due at the time of the session.

Please note:  I have a few sliding scale session slots set aside for those who meet the criteria for hardship. Please contact me for more information if you feel this applies to your case.

  • Insurance for Therapy

I'm an Out-of-Network provider for most insurance companies.

I am currently paneled with Cigna, Tricare, and Triwest.

To fully understand your out-of-network and other insurance benefits, please call your insurance company and ask about:

    • Your mental health insurance benefits (e.g., what kind of therapy is covered).
    • How many sessions are covered?
    • Co-pay per treatment session for an out-of-network provider.
    • Your deductible and whether it has been met.
    • How much you’re reimbursed when you see an out-of-network provider.
  • Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy

Cancellations and rescheduling require a minimum of 24-hour notice.  If you cancel or reschedule with less than 24-hours notice, you will be charged the full session fee.

Unlike medical doctors, I do not double book session slots. If you schedule an appointment time, it is held for you.  It cannot be given to someone else. Due to waitlists, it is important to cancel with enough notice so that the slot can be offered to someone else who needs it.

A credit card is required to hold your appointment times.  This card will be charged if you cancel or reschedule too late.

  • Telehealth and Online Counseling

Phone therapy and online therapy sessions are more popular than ever. They provide a safe and convenient way to continue treatment during challenging times. Telehealth and online counseling are available upon request. Please click here to learn more about online therapy services in San Diego and California.

Phone therapy and online counseling sessions are not available during:

    • A crisis or emergency.
    • Circumstances that require direct, face-to-face contact for effective and safe clinical treatment.
